“I am now a volunteer for Side by Side but 14 years ago I became a single parent to two children.  My ex-husband didn’t pay child support and my youngest child has health issues.  By having to take off so much time to take care of medical appointments for my kids, there were times had I known Side by Side existed I would have come for help.  I did not learn about Side by Side until 10 years ago.  Being a single parent on a relatively fixed income and having a child that is medically complex makes life hard to navigate and sometimes you just need the extra help.  Side by Side is that extra hand up for many people in situations like mine. ”
